Lost Windows Password?Don’t worry,5 ways of how to recover the administrator password on Winows 7,Vista or XP will be described in this article. If you forgot Administrator password not user password and there is no other administrator accounts, things will get more tricky. But don’t despair.I will show you all this methods for all Windows versions, like Windows 7,XP,Vista,and Windows 2000,2003,20008.
Many of us are usually confronted with this problem-forget our Windows password and have no idea what to do.Now,let’s get acquainted with this issue.
1. Log in to Safe Mode and enter the PC with the built-in administrator account
When you installed Windows XP you had to set a password for the administrator account. You will need this password to log on. To boot up in Safe Mode, you have to press F8 when your computer starts. Read the Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information about the Safe Mode. Note that this method doesn’t work in Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account is also disabled in Safe Mode. Below you will learn how to enable the built-in admin account in Windows 7 and Vista.
2. Use your password reset disk to recover the Windows password
Vista and Windows 7 allow you to create a password reset disk which enables you to reset your password without much hassle. The problem with this option is that you have to create the reset disk before the password is lost. You can find a description of how to create a password reset disk here.
3. Reseting Windows password from the command prompt
In the command prompt you can monitor all the user of the computer by typing some commands.Press Win Key+R and type “cmd” in the Run command box and hit enter to open command prompt.Type “net user” in the command prompt and hit “Enter“. This will show all the users of the computer. Now suppose that you want to change the password of the user “abc“.So type the following command and hit enter.
net user [username] .For instance in this example the user name is abc. So the command should be net user abc
Now in the command prompt you will be prompted to enter a password for the user. Note that the format is not available here. Put your password and hit “Enter“. You have to retype the password again for confirmation
4. Use freeware Ophcrack to reset the Windows password
It is an open-source password cracker. The technology it uses to break Windows passwords is called “rainbow tables” and was described by Philippe Oechslin in Making a Faster Cryptanalytic Time-Memory Trade-Off. A rough way to describe this technique is to say that tables of possible hashes are precomputed so that you can iteratively compare the windows hashes to precomputed bits and piece together the hash and its value more quickly than brute-force guessing.
5. Get a commercial password reset tool
There are many commercial tools that allow you to reset the Windows administrator password
if you have forgotten it. Technically, they do the same as the free tools. Some of them might be easier to use or come with better instructions. I recommend trying the other options I described in this article. Finding commercial tools is easy with Google. You can use the same search terms that have directed you to this site.
Below is the most famous recovery tool I found:
Windows Password Key 8.0 -It is considered as the best tool to reset local administrator and user passwords on any Windows system. It creates a password recovery CD/DVD, USB Flash Drive for home, business and enterprise. And most of all, it’s the most popular and safe solution for removing your Windows password until now.
